West Fest and other pics

We went to the West Fest with our good friends the Kendalls and the Pooles and it was such a blast, a little warm but still really fun. I mainly just wanted to go on the Carousel with Emmalyn.

She was absolutely adorable in her shades.

Emmalyn really loved the Merry-Go-Round, she kept jumping up and down in her harness.

All that sun must have tuckered her out!

Marianne, Marisa, Ashley, Angie and I made some really cute shoes with tons of help from Marisa. They turned out pretty good, no worries Marianne I promise to pay you back for the shoes.

No, that's not Emmalyn but I saw this picture on a cake blog and thought that it was absolutely adorable. I want to do this for Emmalyn's 1st birthday which is in a little over 4 months, can you believe that?

Hangin at the homestead

My parents are on a cruise to Alaska so Matt and I are house sitting for them. My little brother Nathan is here and it has been really fun to hang out with him but he has been gone most of the time at EFY which goes from 9 AM to 9 PM. I've also been able to spend a lot of time with my sister Emily and her family which has been a ton of fun. It's been kind of strange staying at my parents house though, Matt has had to work a few grave shifts so when he leaves for work I feel like we are dating again and he is going home. I must admit that was one of the things I was so excited for when I got married, that I wouldn't have to say goodbye at the end of the night but oh well that's how it goes for a married couple with school and a baby. You take the job that you can get.

Tim Hawkins - The Government Can

Starting of the summer pics

So it's been a great Summer already and since I've been taking so many pictures I thought that I'd share them with you all. They aren't really in order but that's ok.

So Emmalyn had a personal achievement today, she pulled herself up to stand all by herself! I had to get a picture of that. Then she fell backwards but she pulled herself up twice without any help from us. We're so proud of her!

First off let me start off by telling you of a big accomplishment for me. I made my first Pot Roast and it was actually VERY GOOD, very tender. This first pic is my little make-shift lid. The only lid I had wasn't oven safe so I had to make one up. I just used a heavy pie pan and if worked. Here's what it looked like before it was cooked, sorry if it grosses you out.

Then the finished product!!! I'm not that great with presentation but it was very juicy and tender!

So my family in-laws had a LotR Marathon. Don't know what that is, no worries neither did I. It was a Lord of the Rings Marathon, 14 hours of it because all 3 of them were extended and we also watched some special features. It was a blast!

So we have swings in our apartment complex and Emmalyn absolutely loves them!

We went to the Logan Temple with some friends and the landscape was very beautiful!

This is at an Institute Party. Peter Brienholt (however you spell that) and Ryan Shuppe were the entertainment and they were awesome!

Same activity with the singers in the background, but you can't see them at all. I promise they're there.

I got new specs! What do you think of them?

Back at the Logan Temple, couldn't figure out how to rearrange the pictures after I'd placed them.

This is the same spot of the picture we put on our wedding announcement at the Logan Temple. 2 years later and a lot has changed.

We went swimming at Bear Lake, sadly for only about 20 minutes because it was sooo windy. We just went back to Logan and swam in Angie's pool.

Ridding the carousel at Hogel Zoo, despite the picture she really loved it!

Grandma, Matt and the Miller kids feeding the ducks at the canal right before they went home.

New stuff for the Omers

So okay there isn't too much new stuff for us I just couldn't really think of a good title. Matt's still working at Peak Alarm as a security guard and I think that it is beginning to take a toll on him. I have to keep making him take a nap when he seems really irritated, and then I have to give myself a nap when Emmalyn doesn't sleep too well through the night. As for me, I got a job working at home on the computer. They really only ask 2 hours every day but they also don't pay very well. I pretty much just transcribe for salesmen and input information into their calendar if needed. It's not that hard to do, but Emmalyn always seems to want my attention when I get on the computer.
Speaking of Emmaly she is 5 months old today! Can you believe it? It's almost been half of a year since she's been born. She's getting pretty good at sitting up and also pushing herself up when she is on her stomach. She smiles and laughs constantly and makes us laugh all of the time as well. We couldn't imagine our life without her. So also in the way of new news I've been working with a personal trainer for a couple of weeks and she has really been working me hard. I guess she's doing what she's suppose to but I'm having a hard time walking as a result, I think just need to stretch better.
We also got a Wii with some of our tax return, I got a good deal on KSL.com (I'm addicted to that site). It's been really great and since we're addicted to it we decided to turn off the TV since we were addicted to that. I can't tell you what a difference that has made for us. We don't accidentally come onto a horrible show or hear swear words all day. That junk just tares you down and we are glad to be rid of it. We did turn it on for conference which was absolutely wonderful but we turned it back off afterwards.
Well that is about it for us, life is wonderful, we are so happy and glad to be alive!

Being Like Her

It's still a strange thing for me to think of myself as a mom. I look at my own mom and see her as this amazingly wonderful and wise woman. She always has the perfect advice to give and knows how to brighten anyones day. She stayed with me for a few days when my daughter first came home with us and I dont think I could have made it through those days with out her. She knew just how to handled my meltdowns. I watch a lot of movies and hearing someone say "oh no I'm turning into my mother!" isn't an unfamiliar phrase. For me it's quite the opposite, I look at my mother and pray that I can come close to being like her. She is one of my best friends, I can talk to her about anything and I know she has helped shape who I am today. Hopefully my daughter and I can have the same relationship. I think we can't truly admire everything that our parents have done for us until we become parents ourselves. Realizing the hard decisions that they made for us and saying it was "for our own good" isn't easy to see at the time but with that time comes understanding . My husband and I both look at our parnents and hope that we can be like them. I love you Mom and Dad!

DUE DATE!

So as the baby-ometer will show you I'm due today, CRAZY! I never really thought that this day would get here and now that it has.... There's not much action goin' on. I guess she doesn't have some watch telling her it's time to come out. But we'll see, it's still the middle of the day so I've got some time right? I atleast know that she can't come any late than November 4th, that's when they'll induce me if she doesn't come on her own. I'm just so excited to meet her, I'm getting really anxious. No worries though I will definately post pictures of her on my blog.

Counting down the days

So it's getting closer to that day and a million things keep going through my head. "Will I be a good mother, can I do as good as my Mom and Dad did with us Palmer kids, how can I be a good parent but still be a friend to my daughter", plus a ton more questions. We went to my in-laws yesterday and my brother-in-law was talking about parenting and it just kind of hit me that this is all really happening. I had my last baby shower this last Saturday and now the next thing to happen for us Omers is to have the baby. We feel pretty ready but I'm sure once she gets here that feeling will change though. It's wierd just waiting for it to happen. I wish that I knew for sure when she is coming, I mean I have a predicted due date but she could come early or go longer, it's killing me just waiting!

Life is very interesting isn't it.

So I didn't realize that I hadn't even posted if I was having a girl or boy HAHA. Yup as the majority of you should know we are having a girl at the end of October and we are so excited for her arrival. We move into our new place on Tuesday and I'm mainly excited to start working on the nursery for her. Just so you know, it's going to be completely PINK! So anyway, here's what's new with Matt and me. We just finished working at a Scout Camp for the summer and it was the best summer of my life. The staff was so wonderful to work with and I was in the kitchen which I think was the best place for me. Matt and I were lucky enough to be able use a trailer so I was always very comfortable. Also my cute sister-in-law Amy gave me a pair of rocket dogs (shoes) she'd gotten at a yard sale that didn't fit her and I never had sore feet the whole time after that which was a major blessing. I worked with 2 other girls in the kitchen, Kammie and Teresa. Teresa was mainly the head cook and 42 years old but she was my best friend up at camp. She could always make me laugh and made the kitchen fun when Kammie was being a punk. The environment was wonderful except for the shortage of air and the big hills you have to climb to get anywhere. Potguts, squirrels, and chipmunks everywhere with an occasional deer were the wildlife we'd run into. I was a wonderful time but it's also really good to be back. I'm ready to just focus on getting ready now for our new baby in October!!!!

Coming arrival update!

So we were thinking that we would find out the gender of our baby today but it turns out that it is going to be on June 9th which is in 3 weeks from now. We did however get to hear the baby's heartbeat which was really neat, so what are your guesses? Girl or Boy?

Exciting News!!!

So Matt and I just found out that we are going to be expecting a baby in October. You might say we've got a bun cooking in the over, you may even say there's a package coming in less than 9 months. Anyway, I'll be updating you all on everything that goes on and I'll also be needing everyone's prayers for the next few months, thanks!

New promotion!

So it finally happened I've been promoted for the first time in my life. So for the last almost year and a half I've been working at house 2 for Chrysalis and have loved every minute of it, especially the girls I work with and for. Anyway, a week ago our associate director asked the manager of my house to refer someone for a manager position for another house, and she chose me. So on Friday I had an interview and later that night she told me that I got the job and that my last day working with the house would be the upcoming sunday shift, which is a grave shift. Meaning I wont get to work with any of the girls on my last shift. I was/am really excited for this but got a little sad knowing that I'm pretty much done with that house but my manager talked her in to one more shift at our house since it is liz's birthday and we're having a big celebration. I'm having tons of mixed feelings about the whole thing really since the last time I was a manager my boss tore me apart. I'm sure this one will be different it's just a lot to take on though.

Sweet Sister Lizzy Sing Me a Sweet Song of Joy

Music has always been a really big part of my life, what with piano, voilin, singing, and dancing that I've been a part of. My family loves music as well so I've also grown up with it throughout my life. I've used it to escape the world, to express myself, to calm myself down, and to rejuvinate my spirit just to name a few. When ever Matt and I watch a movie he'll comment on how the music is so I've been noticing it a lot more myslef. I just finished watching Chronicles of Narnia the 2nd one and the song at the very end of the movie right before the credits is just unbelievable. It's called The Call by Regina Spektor and if you have a minute you should listen to it, it's at the beginning of my music playlist on my blog. There's also another song that just tickeled the ivory of my heart strings (sorry, working my grave) it's from the new movie Twilight and it's called Bella's Lullaby. This song is also on my music playlist and I just can't explain how much I love these songs. They make me want to cry and yet I feel really happy when I listen to them. Isn't music absolutely wonderful?

IT'S HERE IT'S HERE!!!!!

One of my most favorite time of the year!!! I just love Halloween so much, and today is shaping up to be the best day. It's cloudy and I've already heard my first Halloween song, The Monster Mash. This is the best day, I mean the smell of candles in pumpkins, kids running around in costumes, the wonderful doughnuts that my mother makes, WOW this is one of the best days!!! Hope everything is as good for you as it is for me, love you all!

Update on me and the hubby

Why hello friends, sorry it has been a while but every time I try to write something I can never think of anything intereting. You guys are always writing way cool updates so I gotta step it up a notch. Well for starters I am currently trying to get a job at the Legacy nursing home and instead of going into Special Education I am going to go into Nursing. I'm hopping that I'll like it cuz it seems really perfect!!! Matt is also trying to get another job, which would be so exciting but it's going to be 4 to 8... IN THE MORNING! I'm just hopping he doesn't fall asleep in all of his classes. the biggest problem is that if/when I get my job (trying to stay positive here) he'll get off at 8, I will probably start work at 8 and when I get off I'll head to my other job and when I get off from that I'll go home, to where Matt will already be asleep. Tuesdays through Thursdays will suck! I'll never see my husband! Well on the positive side his birthday is coming up and I do love a good birthday cake. Well I think that that's about it. I hope you all are doing very well. I love you all, have the best day!

18 hour shift events

Well Tuesdays I work from 3 in the afternoon to 9 the next morning so since I'm doing my grave right now (it's 5:30 A.M. by the way) and other than just watch the 4th season of Gilmore Girls I thought that I'd write you all about how my day has been. Well first of all one of the girls I work with has a kidney infection so she's now in the hospital and that is where our story begins. I picked up Matt at work during his break so that he could drive me to the hospital to spend 6 hours in a room reading a book and occasionally making conversation to make the girl feel comfortable. Then Matt picked me up at 9 and drove me to the house I work at where after I put the 2 other girls to sleep I continued reading where I left off in my book. It's a murder mystery and since I'm up all by myself during the night I had to stop that idea. So I first watched A Knights Tale (fell asleep for a few minutes shhh don't tell) and now I'm going through my 2 DVD of the 4th season of Gilmore Girls. And now it's 6:10 A.M. 3 HOURS LEFT!!!! Then at 9 Matt will be picking me up and it's off to the home (that's dirty and needs cleaning) where I will take a long nap until I have to go back to work at 3 for 3 hours. hmmm you know this sounds like I'm complaining but I really do love my job!!!! It's the best job in the world. Well I'm going to go finish my Gilmore Girls, wow I'm tired!
FYI if anything doesn't seem coherant I'm just really tired.

I love hiking

Yesterday for family night, Matt and I went hiking to the wind caves. It was so much fun and so peacful. I could really tell that I was out of shape because we had to stop so many times. Maybe that's a sign hmmm. Anyway, on the way down I sort of took us down the wrong trail and we hit a dead end, but not right before I almost stepped on a huge snake. Holy scaryness I screamed really loud! Anyway, we headed back the way we came and found the right trail that got us back to the car. We both had a blast and when we got home we played a way awesome game called Missionary Impossible of which I won woohoo, but barely. I love the married life. I highly recommend it to all my single friends!
