Grey Day

fSo today is a grey day and I'm not just talking about the weather. I'm talking about the kind of day when you don't have the motivation to do ANYTHING and that's what I'm feeling today. It's not the blues because I'm not entirely sad but I just don't want to do anything. It's really quite a bummer really because I've got 2 people somewhat dependant on me. What's worse is when I get in these moods the only thing I do want to do is watch movies or be on the computer which doesn't help when there are things I need to do. Does anyone out there get in these kinds of ruts? How do you get yourself out of them?

Emmalyn's first word in action

Alright so in addition to saying momma dadda and hi we figured that Emmalyn's first real word was tickle because she actually tries to tickle us while she says it. Here's a clip of her trying to tickle me.

Lots O' Changes

So Matt and I have made a couple of changes to our occupations this week. I've started my own independent business with Premier Jewlery, meaning I'm going to be selling jewlery. I've always wanted to do something like this because I love it when us girls all get together and have a good time. I was very close to selling Mary Kay as I love the product but after learning about what it takes to become a consultant I really couldn't see myself doing it. Then when I was visiting teaching one of the sisters in my ward she was telling me how she sells jewlery and I thought, "oh no she's going to try and get me to host a party" as most of us would think right off. Then when she heard that I almost did Mary Kay she came over and talked to me about it and it was so much different! I can't wait to do this, and get to meet new people not to mention help out with finances. Seriously, I'm excited so now I have to put in a plug, if anyone is interested in hosting a party I would love to do one for you. You wouldn't have to buy jewlery at all, it's just to help me practice and also just for holding a party you automatically get $25.00 of free jewlery which means if you find something that you like but can't afford it just host a party and then you'll be able to. And come on, it's me I'm not pushy at all!
Anyway as for Matt he is still doing security guarding but he has also decided to join APEX selling security systems. Which means that next summer we'll be moving for 4 months to wherever they send us and I have to tell you I'm really excited about. I've never lived outside of Utah before, atleast not more than a week and I can't wait! Too bad we signed on this early eh? So hopefully these changes are going to be for good and don't end up being a problem, we feel really good about both so here's hoping.

Emmalyn's 1 year birthday!

Here she is just starting out licking every single finger. She kept looking at me, are you serious you're really going to let me eat this by myself?
Getting it all over the mouth.

You can see the sugar in her eyes, she stayed up until 1:00 that night.

And then she went crazy!!!!! We had a blast that night and by the looks of it so did Emmalyn.

Needless to say her diaper the next morning brought new meaning to the song, "New Moon"

Christmas music in November? Count me in!

While driving down to West Valley this morning I decided to turn to FM 100.3 and lo and behold they are already playing Christmas music. I'm sorry for all of you who don't believe in music until December but I believe that it is just too good of music to only hear for 1 month. I was singing my heart out and it made me so happy! I love this time of year, beautiful colors everywhere you look and just cool enough for a sweater or a jacket although I'm sure that will be changing very soon. What a wonderful world.

1 year birthday!!!

Can you believe it, my little girl is 1 years old today! I can hardly believe it myself, this last year has gone by so fast. Now I can say a year ago I wasn't pregnant. At this moment 1 year ago I was holding my new daughter only a few hours old, feeling like junk but not being able to take my eyes off of her. Everyone told me to have her stay with the nurses during the night but I really didn't want to let her go. I had waited 9 months to get her and I didn't want to be away from her for a moment more. (New moms-to-be I don't encourage this because after 3 or 4 nights of no sleep I was crying at everything).
It's amazing to me how much Emmalyn has changed in 1 year, she's crawling, walking along everything (with assistance still) says words like Momma, Dada, tickle, hi (especially when holding a phone to her ear) and I absolutely love her babbling, she really thinks that she is talking to me and we love making up what she is saying. Her smile and laughter can turn my day around so quickly it's the best medicine. I love my little girl so much and can't imagine how we did with out her. Here's to many more birthdays, who knows what she'll be doing by this time next year?

Look at those eyes.

My sister Emily wanted to take some pics of Emmalyn and this is one of them. Isn't she just gorgeous? My sister is so good with a camera, thanks Em!

Pics of my little angel

A very common face for Emmalyn, just picture her saying oooh.

Bath time with the duckies, she loves chewing on them.

My friend Kendall and me taking our little girls on the carousel at the zoo, they both really loved it. I didn't leave Emmalyn like this, we sat in one of the none moving chairs and then posed after.

Isn't that the most adorable face you ever saw?

Here's a little video clip of Emmalyn playing with her dad, it makes me laugh every time.

A pair of Sickies!

Last week we watched one of my nephews and the next day we found out that he had a virus called Hand-foot-and-mouth which is very contagious. So we were watching to see if Emmalyn would get it. Sure enough she did which means that I also got it but only a mild case. But it feels like the flu which doesn't feel mild to me. On the eve of my birthday too!!! Hopefully it will be gone before then cuz we're both miserable.

It also doesn't help that our apartment is stifling hot so we just put Emmalyn in a onsie day and night. Also since Emmalyn just started crawling so her crawling around on the carpet just irritates the spots on her knees. Poor little girl, I can take her being sick but when I'm sick too and I just want to sleep all day it's hard to take care of a baby. I took her to the pediatricial and they said it's on the down hill which is wonderful, we just can't take her anywhere until she is better.

LAGOON DAY & MONOPOLY!!!

So I would say that one of the most happiest places in Utah is Lagoon! I absolutely love that place, so many memories and I think that I have gone there almost every year since I was little (except for last year because I was looking forward to having Emmalyn too much). Something that I also use to do when I was little was play monopoly the night before going to Lagoon but my husband Matt had to work his grave shift which presented a problem. I was just going to forgo the game but my cute hubs suggested that since we have 2 sets of Monopoly he could take the Disney set to work (thank you Angie for that set) and I'd play with the regular set at home. Since we have free minutes talking to each other we just talked on the phone from around 10 PM to around 3 PM. Matt usually secures buildings during the night but this particular night he had to work in his car so he had to do some finagling to get everything to fit just right. He's got his money pile in the door handle.

I was kind of tired so forgive the tired look. My set up was a lot easier.

Lagoon was so much fun, we were able to go with my brother-in-law Dan and his wonderful wife Roz, her brother Austin and my awesome sister-in-law Katie. We had a BLAST! This is us just about to go on the Jet Star and no I did not tell them to all make the same face, just happens when you're that awesome.

I love this man so much, any place could be the funnest place on earth with him.

West Fest and other pics

We went to the West Fest with our good friends the Kendalls and the Pooles and it was such a blast, a little warm but still really fun. I mainly just wanted to go on the Carousel with Emmalyn.

She was absolutely adorable in her shades.

Emmalyn really loved the Merry-Go-Round, she kept jumping up and down in her harness.

All that sun must have tuckered her out!

Marianne, Marisa, Ashley, Angie and I made some really cute shoes with tons of help from Marisa. They turned out pretty good, no worries Marianne I promise to pay you back for the shoes.

No, that's not Emmalyn but I saw this picture on a cake blog and thought that it was absolutely adorable. I want to do this for Emmalyn's 1st birthday which is in a little over 4 months, can you believe that?

Hangin at the homestead

My parents are on a cruise to Alaska so Matt and I are house sitting for them. My little brother Nathan is here and it has been really fun to hang out with him but he has been gone most of the time at EFY which goes from 9 AM to 9 PM. I've also been able to spend a lot of time with my sister Emily and her family which has been a ton of fun. It's been kind of strange staying at my parents house though, Matt has had to work a few grave shifts so when he leaves for work I feel like we are dating again and he is going home. I must admit that was one of the things I was so excited for when I got married, that I wouldn't have to say goodbye at the end of the night but oh well that's how it goes for a married couple with school and a baby. You take the job that you can get.

Tim Hawkins - The Government Can

Starting of the summer pics

So it's been a great Summer already and since I've been taking so many pictures I thought that I'd share them with you all. They aren't really in order but that's ok.

So Emmalyn had a personal achievement today, she pulled herself up to stand all by herself! I had to get a picture of that. Then she fell backwards but she pulled herself up twice without any help from us. We're so proud of her!

First off let me start off by telling you of a big accomplishment for me. I made my first Pot Roast and it was actually VERY GOOD, very tender. This first pic is my little make-shift lid. The only lid I had wasn't oven safe so I had to make one up. I just used a heavy pie pan and if worked. Here's what it looked like before it was cooked, sorry if it grosses you out.

Then the finished product!!! I'm not that great with presentation but it was very juicy and tender!

So my family in-laws had a LotR Marathon. Don't know what that is, no worries neither did I. It was a Lord of the Rings Marathon, 14 hours of it because all 3 of them were extended and we also watched some special features. It was a blast!

So we have swings in our apartment complex and Emmalyn absolutely loves them!

We went to the Logan Temple with some friends and the landscape was very beautiful!

This is at an Institute Party. Peter Brienholt (however you spell that) and Ryan Shuppe were the entertainment and they were awesome!

Same activity with the singers in the background, but you can't see them at all. I promise they're there.

I got new specs! What do you think of them?

Back at the Logan Temple, couldn't figure out how to rearrange the pictures after I'd placed them.

This is the same spot of the picture we put on our wedding announcement at the Logan Temple. 2 years later and a lot has changed.

We went swimming at Bear Lake, sadly for only about 20 minutes because it was sooo windy. We just went back to Logan and swam in Angie's pool.

Ridding the carousel at Hogel Zoo, despite the picture she really loved it!

Grandma, Matt and the Miller kids feeding the ducks at the canal right before they went home.

New stuff for the Omers

So okay there isn't too much new stuff for us I just couldn't really think of a good title. Matt's still working at Peak Alarm as a security guard and I think that it is beginning to take a toll on him. I have to keep making him take a nap when he seems really irritated, and then I have to give myself a nap when Emmalyn doesn't sleep too well through the night. As for me, I got a job working at home on the computer. They really only ask 2 hours every day but they also don't pay very well. I pretty much just transcribe for salesmen and input information into their calendar if needed. It's not that hard to do, but Emmalyn always seems to want my attention when I get on the computer.
Speaking of Emmaly she is 5 months old today! Can you believe it? It's almost been half of a year since she's been born. She's getting pretty good at sitting up and also pushing herself up when she is on her stomach. She smiles and laughs constantly and makes us laugh all of the time as well. We couldn't imagine our life without her. So also in the way of new news I've been working with a personal trainer for a couple of weeks and she has really been working me hard. I guess she's doing what she's suppose to but I'm having a hard time walking as a result, I think just need to stretch better.
We also got a Wii with some of our tax return, I got a good deal on KSL.com (I'm addicted to that site). It's been really great and since we're addicted to it we decided to turn off the TV since we were addicted to that. I can't tell you what a difference that has made for us. We don't accidentally come onto a horrible show or hear swear words all day. That junk just tares you down and we are glad to be rid of it. We did turn it on for conference which was absolutely wonderful but we turned it back off afterwards.
Well that is about it for us, life is wonderful, we are so happy and glad to be alive!
