The rump sticker

Just so everyone is aware this is an assignment that I had to do for my English 2010 class, I'd love some feedback if it's not too much trouble.

Alright, we can all agree that bumper stickers send a message about the person driving, but what is even more classic about them is no matter what is being said on the bumper it's hilarious to watch people stare at them. You are stopped at a red light, your eyes start to wander and all of the sudden you look in your rear view mirror to see someone squinting to read what your bumper sticker says. What's even better is when you are driving away while they are still trying to read it and they start to tailgate you so that they can finish it.

Why does this have anything to do with Kairos you may ask; plenty. Bumper stickers are all about timing. You wouldn't say something about the Y2K bug because nobody cares about that anymore. All of that junk between Bush and Kerry is over so who wants to take precious tailgating time to read about them. But then again there are those ones that will always be timeless such as "My other car is a Batmobile", "I'm not spoiled, I just get what I want", and "honk if you love Jesus" (which of course a honk in response would prove this to be true).

One of these bumper stickers will continue to be placed and no one will care about it except for those who put it there, and that is... "My child is an honor student". Of course, the child will think that this is completely out of date when he graduated some time ago and is flipping burgers at the local McDonalds. How honorable! The all terrain cars with the bumper stickers that say, "If you can read this, turn my jeep over" (as the bumper sticker is upside down) is a personal favorite of mine. Who is going to be reading a bumper sticker when the car is turned over?

By far the Bumper Sticker that is my favorite says “IYQSU” which interpreted is “I like USU” (say every letter individually). Kairosly speaking you wouldn’t care or understand this bumper sticker unless you were a fan of or attended USU. By sticking a message on the “rear” of a car a connection is being made between the driver and everyone else. As in the exercise, the bumper with FLYNHI could be taken as the person is just always happy feeling on top of the world or they are a druggy and is literally flying high (in which case, police should read bumper stickers more often).

But in all actuality placing any kind of bumper sticker on your car automatically (no pun intended) says something about the driver. A car caked with stickers could show either the person has traveled a lot, they like to be heard, or that they will most likely be keeping their clunker forever as no one will buy a bumper sticker infested van. All in all bumper stickers, no matter what they say, will always be in high supply and supplying people with a good laugh and endless legal tailgating.
